Louvre Museum Relais des Halles

From chateau to museum: since the late 12th century, the buildings of the Louvre have dominated the heart of Paris. The dark fortress of the early days became the modernised residence of Francis I, and later the sumptuous palace of the Sun King. Today the Louvre is the world’s largest museum.
